After Thailand and Malaysia, The BWF World Tour is now making a pit stop in the Lion City for the Singapore Badminton Open 2024.
With the biggest stars of the sport taking part in the tournament, it is set to be a special event on the badminton calendar.
Nearly a century old, the Singapore Badminton Open was held for the first time in 1929. It is organised by the Singapore Badminton Association with sanction from the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Here are all the key details you need to know about the Singapore Badminton Open 2024:
- Date: 28 May – 2 June
- Venue: Kallang, Singapore
In case you are thinking that the title is the only thing these shuttlers are fighting for, you are mistaken. As it happens, the competition comes with monetary rewards (more on that in a bit) and BWF points which help determine the end-of-the-year BWF rankings.
The Singapore Badminton Open is a BWF Super 750 tournament, which means it ranks just below the Super 1000 events like the All England Open in terms of its magnanimity. Here’s a fun fact: there are only six Super 750 tournaments in the overall BWF World Tour in 2024.
Coming back to the monetary rewards at stake, if you are curious to know more about the payout structure, we have got you covered.
